Flounder Flounders are known as the flatfish of the ocean and can be found all over the United States but primarily on the East Coast. They are an excellent fish to bring home for dinner as they provide a great taste and are very healthy. Flounders are sold as a whole fish or thin fillets and usually skinned, although the skin is edible. Flounders are an excellent pan fish and considered as highly-valued table fish with delicate flavor. Whole flounder is good sautéed, steamed or roasted. Fillets are excellent sautéed with a coating of flour or light breading to crisp the soft flesh and prevent them from falling apart.
